American Foundation for the Blind
I rely on several dedicated groups or organizations for evidence-based information and news. One of my favorites is the American Foundation for the Blind. Founded ninety years ago, the AFB acts as a clearinghouse for people who are blind or experience vision impairment. This is a great resource for initiatives to improve accessibility and advocacy. They publish journals, books for consumers and are well-known for their educational information.
One of my favorite books from AFB is Making Life More Livable revised by Maureen Duffy. This is my handbook for ideas, tips and solutions including room-by-room modifications, safety, and lighting. This book is available online at http://www.afb.org/store.
